Santa Fe Hoop Earrings
This listing is for a one of a kind pair of sterling silver hoops, featuring two pieces of scavenged Southern Pacific Railroad China. Often times, railroad china was thrown off of dining cars, whenever a plate or cup broke. My mind was blown upon discovering these railroad relics along the tracks. What better way to preserve its history, than to wear them in a silver piece of jewelry.
These hoops are truly one of a kind. I hand cut the china plate fragments making use of the crosshatch pattern on the plate. The cabochons were set in a fine silver bezel, attached to a sterling silver back plate. The carefully hand stamped back plate spans the entire width of the hoop. Giving this classic hoop style a fancy hand stamped twist. These hoops can be worn through standard size ear piercings, or worn through tunnels shown in the photos. The fabrication process takes a lot of attention to detail. Handcrafted for easy on and off wear with a simple click.
The earrings were tumbled, for polishing and burnishing. I added a patina for extra contrast, then gave it a final polish.
