Santa Fe Ring (size 6)
This listing is for a one of a kind piece of jewelry hand crafted with scavenged Santa Fe Railroad china plate shards that I found along the railroad tracks. Often times, railroad china was thrown off of dining cars, whenever a plate or cup broke. What better way to preserve it's history, than to wear them as a piece of jewelry. These pieces in particular were used on passenger trains from 1936-1970.
I hand cut the china plate fragment into a cabochon, making use of the border of the plate. The plate was set in a fine silver bezel, attached to a sterling silver back plate that holds three sterling silver stamped embellishments. The ring band was also hand stamped with a split shank band.
The ring was tumbled, for polishing and burnishing. I added a patina for extra contrast, then gave it a final polish.
