Tidal Wave Bolo Tie
This listing is for a one of a kind sterling silver bolo tie featuring a piece of Union Pacific Railroad China. Often times, railroad china was thrown off of dining cars, whenever a plate or cup broke. What better way to preserve its history, than to wear it in a silver piece of jewelry.
I hand cut the china plate fragments making use of the blue border of the plate. The cabochon was set in a sterling silver bezel, attached to a sterling silver back plate. The base of the bolo was meticulously hand stamped, sawed, filed, and sanded with a scalloped edge diamond shape. The cabochon is accompanied by four hand stamped embellishments that were soldered onto the base plate. It comes together with a light brown leather bolo cord and sterling silver bolo tips.
The bolo tie was tumbled, for polishing and burnishing. I added a patina for extra contrast, then gave it a final polish.
Height: 1 3/4"
Width: 1 3/8"
