Tidal Wave Bolo Tie

This listing is for a one of a kind sterling silver bolo tie featuring a piece of Union Pacific Railroad China. Often times, railroad china was thrown off of dining cars, whenever a plate or cup broke. What better way to preserve its history, than to wear it in a silver piece of jewelry.

I hand cut the china plate fragment into a cabochon, making use of the blue wave like design you see here. The plate was set in a fine silver bezel, attached to a sterling silver back plate. The china plate is heavily embellished with 8 different stamp details. They were individually stamped, sawed, filed, sanded, formed, and soldered around the setting. Lots of fine detail work on these pieces, with a true three dimensional feel to them. On the back of the bolo tie is a hand fabricated finding, that the light brown leather cord runs through. Attached are sterling silver bolo tips. The pendant was tumbled, for polishing and burnishing. I added a patina for extra contrast, then gave it a final polish.
